QuestionHi there. I had a quick question about what might be best for reinforcing my natural nails.
In the past I've worn traditional acryllic nails. Everytime I use them I end up getting annoyed because of breaking & lifting & any number of things & soak them off. After which, no matter WHERE I have been getting them done (in cheaper places when I was younger & in very high-end reputable salons when I was older)- my result after an extended period has always resulted in weak flaking nails.
During one of my "just soaked off my nails" periods I was introduced to a system by Nailtiques for strengthening nails after removing acryllic & it worked so well for me that I started using their normal strengthening products all the time.
The problem there was that you have to re-apply daily & remove once a week & start over. Not only did this limit my options for wearig colors- because it was not reccomended to put anything between the layers of the treatment, but at $20+ dollars a bottle it wasn't cheap for as much as I had to use.
So, here I sit with a beautiful shape & length- and a job that can be hell on them due to lifting files all day.
I DEFINITELY know that I DONT want traditional acryllic again & I have been trying to read up on Silk Wraps & Gel Overlays.
I realize that theyre also from the acryllic family, but from what I have seen they are also different when applied to the nails.
People I have seen with Silk wraps tend to have thicker looking nails, similar to how some people wear their traditional acryllics & then I have seen what I can only assume is Gel nails which look much thinner, shinnier & natural.
I am almost positive that gel is the way I want to go but IS gel a good way to go to STRENGTHEN my natural nail so that I can maintain my shape and length?
My ideal product would be something that could be applied like a mega tough layer of nail polish. High shine, thin like my natural nail & stronger than my natural nail.
AnswerWell, i think first of all you should decide wheter you what a nail enhancements (like gel, fiberglass or acrylic) or a natural nail strenghtener.
If you decide on the fisrt option i can tell you that all systems can be made to look natural, not thick or bulky, and they should damage the natural nail, but, you should really go for a experienced and well trained tech, using a reputable brand. All these systems can be used as an overlay on you natural nail, or can be used to extend the lenght of your nails. If you go for this option i woulkd recomend that you try and search for a Creative salon because i know they have a very strict training.
If you go for the second option i sould tell you that in my opinio you already tried out the best available, that is Nailtiques, so i really can't think of anything else to recomend.
Hope i could help.
Sorry for taking longer than usual to reply but i've been having some problems conecting to the internet.
