Why Nail Glue Fails on Gel Nails & What to Use Instead

Question
I have recently switched to gels and in a pinch when acrylics would crack I would use nail glue to get me through but that doesn't work with the gel. What does?

Answer
Hi Danielle,

I strongly advise against using 'nail glue' for any cracks with any enhancements. Glue is porous and allows moisture in, and may cause 'greenies', an infection on the nail plate.
When a nail is cracked/broken/chipped etc.. it's best to have your technician fix it correctly.

True UV Gel is non-porous, so no, glue will not help at all.  There is no alternative other than visiting your technician.

If you are cracking or breaking your nails that frequently, either
A) they are too long for your lifestyle and the way that you use your hands
B) they're not balanced and the apex of the nail is not built correctly
c) you're waiting too long between refills and they are becoming imbalanced and therefor weak.

Sorry I couldn't help further
Best regards
Victoria
