Artificial Nails & Respiratory Issues: Potential Lung Reactions & Skin Irritation

Question
QUESTION: I have used artificial nails for approx. 18 years....salon, or otc...i have shortness of breath now and it seems to be a mystery of why....would anything in nail glue over a long period of time have any reaction in the lung area....i am really trying to dig into what may be causing the breath prob.  have gone to heart and pulmonary dr....and all seems to be ok...do you know of any reaction?  ALSO.  in the past year, i get tiny cuts around the knuckles of my fingers...really hurt..and when they heal there is a little 'knob'  ... would this be allergy to nail glue?  i hope you can give me some insight...thank you so very much!

ANSWER: hello, iam afraid i have not heard of such a reaction and i feel that only a GP or specialist would be qualified to answer this sort of question as it is medical.  I would suggest removing your nails for a while and see if the problem persists.  Sorry i can not be of more help.

QUESTION: thanx for your answer...but what about the tiny cuts around the knuckles and cuticle?  really hurt and when they heal there is sometime a little know...would this be allergy to nail glue?  what are some of the skin reactions to nail glue....thank you...-

Answer
sorry, missed that ansa out, yes this is quite possibly a reaction to the glue or resin, i sometimes get that myself if i have been resting the side of my hand in the product filings while i work, i found that hydroquartazone cream from the GP sorted it for me.  Its quite painful when it cracks open??
