Acrylic Nails Causing Itchiness and Peeling? Causes & Relief

Question
I have had acrylic nails for many years. I have a clear gel put on them and it has never been a problem until now. The last time I went ( 2 weeks ago) everything seemed fine but later that evening and for the next 3/4 days my fingers were so itchy like they were on fire!! The area around my nail has become so dry and it keeps peeling. They are a little sore still, probably from my initial scratching.I have tried putting cortizone cream, neosporin and now some cuticle cream but it hasn't helped at all. I asked the nail salon if they had used a new product and they said they haven't. Do you have any suggestions? I am going to need another fill in  soon but I am afraid to go because the burning I had afterward was extremely painful.

Thanks!

Lori

Answer
Hi Lori,

My advice to you would be to remove those nails ASAP.
You are having a bad allergic creation.
Find a reputable salon in the area, you will end up paying more
but you will get what you paid for.
Try having a new set of gel nails applied. Usually when clients are allergic to acrylic they seem to have no reaction to gel.
The redness and itching will most likely happen again if you reapply acrylic.

FYI, Gel nails are in a gel consistency when applied and cured under a UV light. If a salon uses a powder and a liquid mixture this is not a gel.

Make sure whoever takes those nails off soaks them in acetone don't let anyone nip them.At this point your nails are very weak and the less damage the better.Look up {MMA in nail products) on line this might interest you because of your skin reaction.

Hope this helps,
Good luck!
