Acrylic Primer & Monomer: Purpose & Use in Nail Application

Question
Hello, I wanted to know what the purpose of the primer and the monomer were in the acrylic setting; I thought they were for the same use. And also, if I use the EZ flow acrylic system, do I even need the primer? THank you so much!

Answer
Diana,
Primer is an Acid like bonder. The use is to make sure your acrylic doesnt lift off of the natural nail. The way it works is simple. When applied to the natural nail it makes tiny holes/divits in the nail plate. This helps the product adhere.

A monomer is a chemical in the acrylic powder. It is a completely different process and that is needed to make the powder form with the liquid to the perfect consist. Yes you need a primer for the EZ flow system. If you were using Gels you would not use a primer you would use a bonder. But for Acrylics you Always need a primer no matter what.

Hope that helps:) And good luck!
