Nail Allergy Concerns: Identifying the Cause of Skin Reactions

Question
I have tried the different nails many years ago and found the acrylic nails seemed to cause me to get blistering and itching on my fingers.  I didn't seem to have the reaction to gels or silk (I think) but I see from the answers gels are also acrylic.  Do you have any idea what I reacted to, I would really like to get them again since I am a nail biter.  Thank you

Answer
Dear Pam,

I regret that I can't answer your allergy question. It could have been any number of things.  You could have suffered over-exposure to the product by a technician who was careless and letting the product come in contact with your skin.
You could have been allergic to only a specific brand, or a singulear component of a system.
If you frequented a poor quality salon with poor practices, using toxic/cheap & illegal acrylic containing MMA, you could have reacted to that as well.

UV Gels, and Dips and ACrylics ALL contain acrylic, in different forms.

IF you have been successful with UV Gels, then avoid another possible reaction and stick with UV Gels.

Please see this page on my site to avoid being scammed by salons claiming to offer UV gels when in truth it's toxic acrylic http://ongles-chez-victoria.tripod.com/victoriasnails/id18.html   and other valuable information.

Please feel free to contact me again.
I'm a former nail biter, and understand the challenge very well.
Best regards
Victoria
