False Toenails on Nail-Bedless Toes: Safety & Alternatives

Question
Hello I am writing to ask if it is ok to stick a false toenail onto a toe that has no nail bed.  I have recently done this with a gel glue that I brought from a chemist.  I just wanted to check that this is normally safe...  Also I am wondering if there is a better solution for me.  And how expensive would this procedure be to have.

Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Michele

If I understand you correctly, you have no toe nail at all on your toe?
All permanent products like acrylic and gel will only bond properly to Keratin, which is what our nails and toe nails are made of.
If there isnt any keratin there, acrylic and gel will not bond for longer than 24 hrs.

The false toenails you talk about from the chemist are a tempory solution as it can only be stuck to your skin.
This will also only last about 24hrs.

If you have a special occasion, this is a good solution. However, it is not a good idea to keep sticking the same false nail onto your toe, as you may get a bacterial infection, (which will look like a green stain).

Hope this helps
