Pink & White Nail Removal: Addressing Concerns & Aftercare

Question

I want my nails to loo
Hi Megan,

My question is two-fold: I just got pink & whites put on three days ago. This is the very first time I have ever had any kind of artificial nail/nail enhancement. I'm not totally in love with them for fear of what they may do to my natural nails. That, and they're a little thick looking, but I have gotten compliments on them, too. Plus, they throbbed pretty badly the entire day I got them put on - not pleasant.

I have pretty strong nails to begin with, but wanted to try pink & whites since I'm getting married next year. I'd like to know how they remove these pink & whites, and how long should I "try" them out for? I don't want my natural nails to be ruined, but I do like the idea of "permanent french" for my wedding.

The second part is, do you have any suggestions for other enhancements to make my nails look nice? they do tend to break in times of stress (uh hello pre wedding nerves?!), and I really want to "test drive" options before the wedding, but don't want to wear out my nails. I really like the way the picture looks. I'd like to have them look sleek, natural and just pretty like the image.

Any and all advice would be much appreciated. Thanks very much in advance!

Answer
Meghan,
If you have your nail tech hand file your acrylics and do not use a drill on your natural nail then it wont cause you any damage at all! In fact you can wear them for 20 years and it would make the same difference. After all your nail is constantly growing so in a matter of 5 to 6 months you have a brand new nail no matter what. So even if you did damage them or make them a little thin.. your nails will grow and you will be fine.

As for the look goes I would make sure your nail tech does them as thin as possible and you should love them! Acrylic nails are a lifestyle, they are not something you just throw on and take off. They are a lot of work and a lot of maitenence and they also cost a lot of money as you know. So I think you should decide if this is something you really want. If you do want it, then wear them and take care of them! If its just for a wedding day, then get a manicure.
