Eliminate Fill Lines in Acrylic Nails: Expert Tips & Techniques

Question
QUESTION: I HAVE TRIED JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING TO GET A CLEAN FILL. I JUST CANT SEEM TO GET RID OF FILL LINES. I USE LINE OUT THEN ACETONE AFTER FILLING TO ERASE, BUT AFTER ACRYLIC APPLICATION THEY ARE STILL PRESENT??? I USE CREATIVE SHEER BLUSH PINK

ANSWER: Hello Traci,

First off, are you drilling the old acrylic line enough? blending the old acrylic into the natural nail before applying new acrylic is a necessity to avoid fill lines. Any lifting will also cause a difference in color when not properly drilled out. Perhaps your powder is too sheer? In my experience, I make sure that I drill out the old "growth" line and any lifting, making sure that it's a smooth area before applying Bond-Aid and Primer then just the powder, and Other than unusual cases of lifting and breakage, it usually blends pretty well.

QUESTION: THANKS SO MUCH. WHAT POWDER DO YOU USE? YES I DRILL OLD ACRYLIC OFF AND ALSO USE LINE OUT. SHOULD I FILE AFTER LINE OUT? I'VE BEEN IN THE NAIL INDUSTRY FOR 13 YRS, JUST STARTED HAVING FILL ISSUES DUE TO THE DEMAND OF PINK AND WHITES. BEEN USING SAME PRODUCTS FOR YEARS, MAYBE THEY'VE MADE A CHANGE IN THE FORMULA.

Answer
I just use a type of acrylic powder that they pre-mix at the Asian beauty supply, they are cheap, fast drying and no problems with lifting. I trained with Creative Nail design before and i absolutely love there products. Sometimes when the drill line is too deep it is hard to cover with a sheer pink.
