Vintage F M Co. Lion Head Bracelet - 1910s/20s
QuestionI have a bracelet which belonged to my great grandmother most probably given to her in the 19 teens or 1920's. It is about 3/4" wide, and about 9" around. It is not gold. Some type of metal. It is hollow inside going about 1/8 or more thick. It is made by the F M Co.. The front has a lion's head with ruby eyes, an open mouth that at one time must have held another gem, beautiful design on both sides of the head. The design and the head are attached somehow to the bracelet, I don't know how. (I sure hope you understand what I'm trying to say) Can you tell me anything about the history of this bracelet and an approximate value.
AnswerHello Kelly - Sounds like you have a beautiful bracelet ! FM Co. was actively manufacturing in Attleboro, Mass. in the 1930 - 1940's. They did make a lot of "holloware" jewelry, some of which had rolled gold finish similar to gold filled. There were many types of designs. It would be difficult to give your bracelet a value, especially since the familial value would probably be far greater. Market value for bracelets of this type vary greatly depending on the design, rarity, condition and demand. You could check further by searching one of the online auctions such as eBay or Yahoo under vintage or antique jewelry for one similar to yours, but again, these values vary from day to day. Hope this helps and enjoy your bracelet !
