Finding a Quality Diamond Ring: Expert Buying Guide
QuestionI'm looking into buying a diamond engagement ring in the near future, where should I start my search? I want to stay away from the typical "mall" places because I feel like I'll be overpaying or not getting high quality merchandise. Am I wrong in my assumption? Are there better places to look? Thank you.
AnswerKristin-
You may be correct in your assumption! I would start with a smaller local "Ma Pa" jewelry store in your neighborhood. Also make sure the person you are dealing with has some credentials such as from the Gemological Institute of America or American Gem Society. Make sure the diamond you are purchasing comes with a Lab Graded Certificate from the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) or EGL (European Gemological Labs).
Search online on sites such as Bluenile.com or someone you know. Ask your friends where they purchased and if they are satisfied....and finally, have fun !!! do research on diamonds so you are a bit more familiar. If you need any help with costs, actual wholesale prices, let me know....I can be of help.
all the best.,
