QuestionI have a ring passed down from my great-grandfather, which my great grandmother gave him after WWI. The number 222 is stamped inside of the ring. Is there some significance to this?
AnswerG'day Margaret and many thanks for your query
222 on its own doesn't mean anything but suggests 22 carat gold? To be sure you will need to visit your local FRIENDLY jewelry and have them test it. They will charge a small fee for this, but at least you will know.
222 is NOT a standard hallmark.
You might like to add this query to my blog at: http://how2valuejewelry.com/ as someone else may have come across a silimar problem and can pass on an answer.
Can't hurt anyway....
Hope this helps
