Rhodium Plating vs. Electroplating: Understanding the Difference

Question
I have a white gold bridal set.  It is currently with my jeweler being electroplated. A couple of my girlfriends have had their rings rhodium plated and were very satisfied with the results.  Is there a difference between electroplating and rhodium plating?
Thanks for the help.
Jennifer

Answer
Jennifer-
the Rhodium process is electroplating. The rectifier is attached to an anode- (platinum, or steel)Positive, placed in the rhodium solution bath with the jewelry item.  When the two are in the bath, the jewelry starts to bubble and the process begins to layer. In a few seconds, the jewelry turns white. That is the simple explanation. They are one of the same. Hope it turns out well,
all the best
