Identifying & Valuing a German Silver Ring with Wilhelm II Inscription
QuestionI recently acquired a plain unadorned sterling silver ring, but what I found most interesting was the writing on the inner band. It reads "Wilhelm II Deutscher Kaiser Konig von Preussen - Deutsches Reich 1912 - Drei Mark." I know that last part meant that it was sold originally for three German marks, and that Wilhelm II has his name on quite a few coins, but is there anything else you could tell me about this type of ring? I would also like to know what possible value it could have.
AnswerHello Flint and thank you for your inquiry. You have an interesting ring and have already a good head start in researching it. It could have been a souvenir or gift item sold or given during that era. These items were very popular during the turn of the century. You might be able to find a book on this type of item - I do not have one. I'll try to do some more looking and will let you know if I find out anything. The internet is a vast resource and there should be something available. Good luck
