Decoding 'PAD' on Sterling Silver Rings: Meaning & Value
QuestionI just purchased a ring at an auction and inside the band is 925,which I understand is sterling silver, but it also is marked PAD after the numbers...It has a diamond(or CZ)also..Do the letters pertain to the stone, or what does PAD stand for?
AnswerHello Sandie and thank you for your inquiry. I believe that the PAD is either a design or manufacturer marking. I don't have the particular mark listed in my vintage resources so the ring could be newer or the mark is not registered - possibly foreign. In order to best determine whether you have a diamond or CZ, you should have the stone tested by a gemologist. Enjoy your ring !
