Decoding 'AP' on Italian 14K Gold Jewelry: What Does It Mean?

Question
I bought set of yellow gold jewelry at the show and on each piece has a stamp 14K Italy and AP.
I wonder what is it AP stand for.I hope it is not some kind of gold plated or something else.

Answer
Hello Alla and thank you for your inquiry. I have not been able to locate anything on the "AP" that you mention except that it may be the initials of the assay office where the item was produced. I would assume if the piece is stamped 14K that it is genuine but if you have reason to suspect that it may not be 14K you can have it tested by a jeweler for gold content. Hope this helps and enjoy your jewelry !
