Question Tag on necklace
QUESTION: Can you tell me what the characters on the left side of this tag mean?
ANSWER: Jim, this is a pretty clever photo with the magnifier. Unfortunately, I still have difficulty reading the numerals. As for the characters below and center, I honestly have no idea about those and would suspect a maker's mark, unless the other side of the tag shows a distinct maker's mark.
I can read 12k on the tag. 12k is unusual unless in gold filled. Gold filled is generally marked something like this, although the numbers can vary: 1/10 12k GF
This means an item with the mark I gave will have a surface layer of 12 karat gold equal to 1/10 of the total weight of the metal, gold layer and base metal.
If you can read the numerals and use a follow-up to get back to me that might help.
Thanks for the question and I hope this will help somewhat. Remember, I do not try to identify makers marks.
God Bless and Peace. Thomas.

magnified gold mark
QUESTION: It looks like 1 / 26 12K
see picture attached that is magnified.
AnswerI suspect the mark is supposed to be 1/20 12k and not 1/26. Sometimes a small stamp as on a chain tag is distorted when stamped. This would be a pretty definite indication of gold filled, even if the GF is not showing.
Look at the edge of a US quarter coin. You will see the shiny faces of the coin are layers and a coppery layer is in the center. This is the same arrangement as gold filled. The layer of gold is substantially thicker than plated items and even if not solid gold the durability is pretty decent.
Thanks for the follow-up back and the second image.
