Identifying Vintage Wristwatches: A Guide to Makers & Gold Content
Question
1920's Wristwatch
I have been told that this is a rare piece of jewelry and advised to research the maker. How do I do this? Where do I begin? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answerroxy
we have seen many of these types of watches they are pink gold and some of the bands are NOT gold there should be a stamp or a Karat stamp such as 14KT or 18KT or 585 750 , if you open the watch from the back by putting slight pressure on the tab the watch will open and you can remove the mechanism and look inside the back panel. It should be stamped and sometimes the person who worked on the watch will engrave the date with his initials in the case.
I do not have a mechanism to research the historical data, but if the mfg. has his stamp on the inside you can research through the internet...
all the best
