Identify & Value 1930s Ring with Ruby - Patent #1862710

Question
Hi
My father has a ring that he got in an action about 2 years ago. It has a patent number on it. I've looked up that it was a 1932 patent but I cant not find who it was made by. It has a C with a H inside of it, 10K Pat. No. 1862710 all on the inside and it has one large square ruby in it. Can you tell me what brand this is or how much it would be worth?

Answer
Hello Jenny and thank you for your inquiry. Here is the patent information that I located:

*Patent
Author   Year   Title   Country   Assignee   Number   URL
William, Silverman, Maurice, Constantine   1932   Jewelry construction   United States   William, Silverman,Maurice, Constantine   1862710   http://www.freepatentsonline.com/1862710.html

William Silverman and Maurice Constantine were the originators of the patent which was for "jewelry construction". It is 10K gold and the CH could be the retailer or a monogram for the original owner. I have been able to find one company that used an H within a C and that was Cooke, Harding Chain Co. in Attleboro, Mass. They were active in the  1930's but I can find nothing more recent.

In order to get a value on your ring you would need to have it appraised to get the weight of the gold and quality, cut of the stone. An estate jewelry appraiser or gemologist would be the best but you can also use an online service such as What's It Worth To You. They charge a minimal fee for valuation and you would need good photographs. Below is their site address:

Hope this helps and enjoy your ring !
