Platinum Ring Broken: Warranty Claim & Durability Concerns
QuestionHi,
So I was watching TV and I look down and my black diamond was gone (prongs and all). I found it in the cushion after looking for awhile. Anyway, the ring was purchased in February from Gemvera.com. They have a one year warranty and I have already emailed them about the problem. My question is is that supposed to happen? Is it normal for a platinum ring to fall apart? I never got it appraised and I bought it online so who knows. I'm just wondering because I may want to ask for a refund instead of a replacement if the quality of their jewelry is that bad. I can send pictures too.
Thanks in advance,
Meghan
AnswerHi Mehgan,
For how much did you buy it for originally and how long have you had it? Cost and length of time acquired aside, a finely crafted ring should not be falling apart like that whether gold, silver or platinum, although platinum is a more brittle metal than gold. Ultimately my advice is that if you can, look for customer reviews regarding that store, if the same thing had happened to other customers or if the store has a low customer satisfaction rating, it might be a good basis for getting a refund instead of getting a replacement. Good luck!
