Identifying Your Silver Henry IV Bracelet: History & Value

Question
I have a very intricately designed silver bracelet with Henry IV picture and lettering on the circular face.  It has a clasp on hinge, chain closing and there is a shape with lettering on the inside but the lettering has worn off enough that it is illegible to me.  It looks like the shape around the lettering is similar to a Chevrolet symbol:) I got this about 15 or 20 years ago at an estate sale.  Do you know anything about it?  Thanks so much for your help.

Answer
Thank you for your inquiry. Although your item sounds very interesting, it would be very difficult to do an identification without first seeing a photograph and even then, nothing replaces a hands-on examination. With so many designs and styles it is difficult to get an accurate visualization. First and foremost, make a thorough search of the item for any markings.

You might visit antique shops and auctions such as ebay.com looking for similar items. From the EBay Auction Home Page, just use the SEARCH box to input a short description of your item then check the listings for similar items.  Your local library and bookstore can be a good source for books on jewelry. Some antique shop owners are eager to share their knowledge and can be very helpful. There are online appraisal sites that will work from a good photograph. Just use your browser search for jewelry appraisers to locate one or use one of those listed on the below link. You may also want to determine whether there are any markings on the item or if it is gold or sterling.

Below is a site that might give you more ideas on how to go about identifying your item. Just copy and paste the url into your browser address field and hit enter.

Sorry I couldn't be of any further assistance, but good luck and enjoy your bracelet.
