Identifying a Grandma's Ring: P14K Gold with Emerald and Diamonds
QuestionHi, I found one of my grandma's rings in a pile of her costume jewelry that I have and I am trying to identify the maker. The ring is gold with an emerald stone and ten tiny diamonds surrounding it. On the inside of the ring it says P14K on one side and on the other it looks like the mark (deep engraving) of a house or a shield with two raised dots inside of it. The markings are very tiny and even with a magnifier that's the best I can describe them. Do you have any idea what I have? Thank you!
AnswerHello Kelli and thank you for your inquiry. Without more information or description on the hallmark it would be difficult to do much research without actually getting a visual of the mark. It is probably 14 karat and the stones possibly genuine. I would suggest that you take the ring to a jewelry appraiser for more information and identification of the stones. Your local antique shop or museum could probably refer you to someone in your area. There are also online appraisers such as "What's It Worth To You" that will work from a good photo, but getting good hallmark photographs can sometimes be difficult.Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance at this time but enjoy your ring !
