Firstly, I want to commend all of the experts/volunteers on this site. The response I read are very detailed and are extremely valuable.
I hope you can help me with this issue: buying an engagement ring! It is a big step in my life. I am 26 and have found the right lady. I am looking to buy an engagement ring and planned to propose soon (within 3 months). I have done a bit of research on diamonds and settings. I know about cut, color, carat, clarity, 3, 4, 6 prongs solitaires, GIA, EGL, HDR, ...etc.
My concern is that I don't know where to buy. I am a US resident, but currently working in Paris. I would like to buy it as soon
as possible to propose in Europe when she comes to visit. The way I see it, I really have two options: buying online, or in Antwerp.
My budget is 10-$15k for 1.25-1.5 Carat. What would you recommend?
- Do you have any recommended site? What is the best online site as far as trust and quality?
- Is it safe to buy over the internet (Can I trust the certificate)? How are taxes and custom fees handled?
- Is is a good idea to buy in Antwerp? The people there can be quite "clever"
Any suggestions or comments from experience about this matter, please share them with me.

I do have a friend that is a diamond cutter in Los Angeles California.
I know we could get you the best cut and quality you want. Did you want a round stone? It could be shipped from here insured. Short of that I not sure who I would recommend.
Also I could have it mounted in a top quality mounting. Do you like white or yellow gold. Ring Size? Mounting type of design?
