Question
This is regarding question,(http://experts.about.com/q/689/3622083.htm) , I had the same situation I have purchased I diamond ring from People and gave it as a gift to my sister living in Algeria 5 years ago , last week she went to the jewelry to  polish the ring which I bought to her and check the Karat of the "white gold"  the ring was marked as: 14K Libco. After he checked he told her that your ring isnot a 100% gold and is only covered "placked "with 14 K gold ...and later she went to the another jewelry store to verify the information and the answer is the same "gold placked ". and the third one the same answer,,,,.I've never been told that the Diamond ring was not a 100% gold , what should I do ...Should Return the Ring to the store knowing that company Peoples is a famous company in Canada ,,, I just no what to do ...I paid for that ring 1100 $ with its warranty ...I think the warranty is expired ...

Answer
Bring the ring back to the store you bought it from and tell them you would like it tested by a professional appraiser. If not you would need to bring it to a professional appraiser your self. After it is tested then the formal report would give you the true results.
My company provides this service in the New York and Boston MA Areas.
If you cant find an appraiser in your area write me back.
After confirming the results by report the store should give you an adjustment if needed. If not, Write me back and I can give you further instructions.
