QuestionQUESTION: Dear DeMello, I have the following valuation information in regard to my diamond ring. Ring: Single stone modern round brilliant cut diamond. The diamond estimated to weigh approximately 0.89/0.95ct and of estimated approximate colour and clarity G-H VS has thick bruted girdle and is semi-rubover set in a double row white wire band. Bearing the 2003 Dublin 18ct hallmark. Weight 3.5grms. New Replacement Value: 8,000 EURO.
What do you think the best selling price would be? Many thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Baris Unal
ANSWER: Hi This forum is for questions and answers only. What your asking is for is a valuation. That would be a service through our office and would need to be done according to laws of US, our state and your laws regarding this service. I can do it for you but we would need you to contact us directly.

QUESTION: Dear DeMello, I provided you with the valuation information. I just would like to know an approximate resale value. This is my question. Many thanks.

AnswerBy law and by many association regulations to approximate I would need to see the item. I could also be held liable not just by you but by someone else who reads the results and is damaged by my information. if they use it or it's applied incorrectly. My Insurance Co would never allow me to do this.
When we do an appraisal we have to define what the appraisal is to be used for, the client and also the intended users.
Also to be anywhere close I would need cutting proportions, crown and pavillion angles as well as polish and symmetry
If your looking for an approx. value the best and most accurate information that you can get other than an appraisal is to shop different companies that sell that diamond in the market that your interested in buying in such as, Retail Store, Internet, Manufactures outlet.
This will give you a pretty close picture of the market for that diamond. Also there should be differences from one area to another.
Thank You Baris,
