Is Your 750 Gold Chain Valuable? | Gold Chain Identification & Value

Question
QUESTION: Hello, I have a gold chain that has been handed down to me and it has a small stamp of 750 on the clasp and also on the piece next to the clasp with 2 other stamping 1 with a small star which looks like a very tiny Jewish star it also has a stamp on the other side but is to hard for me to read  Do you think this chain has any value?

ANSWER: Hello Michelle and thank you for your inquiry. Your .750 chain could be 18K gold which is made up of 750 parts of gold and 250 parts of other metals. The other markings could pertain to the manufacturer or design. The value would be in two parts - the gold value which is determined by the weight of the item and daily gold market and the item value which would include the design and and provenance information. You might want to have it tested and/or appraised by a jeweler for valuation. I've listed a website ebay.com with some examples of market values on a few 750 gold chains. Just copy and paste the url into your browser address field and hit enter.  Hope this helps !

Answer
Hello Michelle and thank you for your inquiry. Your pendant appears to be cloisonne in an oriental design. It is difficult to determine a value without a hands-on examination.  Often these pieces were not marked and they are still in production. If the metal is not marked as to content, you would need to have it professionally tested for gold content. You may be interested in the following link for more information on cloisonne. Just copy and paste it into your browser address field and hite enter:
