Understanding JF 750 Gold Rings: Is It White Gold?

im sheina fom phil. i have a ring that some says it looks like  white gold. it has a JF750 engraved on it. what does it mean. is it really white gold? how can i differentiate white gold and stainless?

Hi sheina,

The '750' is the quality stamp for 18 karat gold. If the ring looks like white gold that would be logical. It couldn't be stailess steel because stainless will not scratch and has a silvery shiney surface. Gold on the other hand is much softer and scratches easily and to get it to shine it is usually rhodium plated. Godd luck.
