Question
Diamond Ring?
I have a somewhat vintage ring that has the following inside the band, can you please tell me what these mean?
33 Diamond Gold Ring (don't know if diamonds are real) if they are I have quite a find, however, I get the feeling to good to be true!
Markings: 14K (actual diamond shape) EV
MW3X 1.00 T
Thank you so much!
Heather
AnswerHeather, the best I can tell from the markings is that the 14k EV matches the standards for the National Gold and Silver Marking Act current regulations. In that sense, if the maker puts in a metal quality mark such as the 14k, then they must also stamp in their makers mark. This stamp is akin to signing a check to verify it is yours. The markings 14k EV tell me the maker is marked at EV, who that might be; the karat of the metal is 14 karat, real gold jewelry.
The mark 1.00 T would seem to coincide with the marks some large store with many outlets sometimes use, showing the total weight of the stones. If that is the case, the weight of the stones is one carat. However, from the fine photo you send the stones appear to be slightly more than that in total weight. Of course, I cannot really tell accurately the sizes of the stone from a photo.
My suggestion is to have a jeweler look at the ring an tell you first of all if the stones are diamonds. If so, I would not be concerned with having the metal checked to see if the 14k is valid since is very likely is accurate in this case.
The MW3X is one I have not seen. Three times something? Maximum Weight? I do not know. That part is a mystery.
Heather, thanks for the question. I hope this answer has assisted in some way. Honestly, ID of rings is not what I do since my main work is design, repair and making of precious metal jewelry items. Yet, it metal quality is involved, I will then try to give an accurate answer.
God Bless and Peace. Thomas.
