Identifying a Vintage Gold Ring with 'F' Sword Stamp - Appraisal & History

Question
While renovating my attic, a small ring box fell out from behind the insulation.  I opened it to find a 10K yellow gold mens ring with a synthetic red stone about .8 grams in weight.  The gold itself is about 1.8 grams (I've had it examined by a gemologist).  What I'm trying to find out is where it came from.  Beside the 10K it has a stamp that looks like a sword with the letter "F" between the hilt and blade.  The box came from a local jeweller in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada; "Ruge's Gold and Gem Store".  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Thank you for your inquiry ! What a find ! Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate a hallmark similar to the one your describe. I don't have a listing of Canadian hallmarks but did check the US ones just to be sure.  I've listed a couple of links below that may be of interest/help to you. The ring could be French or other European manufacturer. Your local library may have a listing of Canadian jewelers or you might contact someone listed in the 2nd listing I've provided below.  Hope this helps and enjoy your ring !
