Finding Horn Lacquer for Fine Silver Protection: Alternative Names & Durable Options

Question
Hi, just read your very interesting answer on protecting patinas - I searched for suppliers of the 'Horn Lacquer' you mentioned but can't find any - is there another name it is known by?

I am wanting to protect LOS lighter colour patinas on fine silver and I live in a hot and humid country (Barbados)

thanks for any help or advice

Answer
Finola, what you will need is a lacquer made for metals.  A colorless lacquer for wood might work but will perhaps not be so durable.   These lacquers come in spray cans and in containers as does paint.  The spray cans are the easiest and neatest to use.

Look for a clear lacquer for metal.  That should be the best choice besides that which is made specifically for metal musical instruments.

God Bless and Peace.      Thomas.
