QuestionHi, Sally and Bill....I have an old ring setting that my mother had, and she probably got it from relatives that were from Germany, Prussia,or ?? that area. No stone , just the setting. It almost looks like it has some rose gold in it, but more a gold tone than rose tone. The stamping inside has an arrow, pointing to a star. The stamping/marking is indented in a oblong shape, not just stamped on the flat surface inside. No numbers or anything else. Can you tell me what the arrow and star mean , and how old it might be and it's value? It has 6 elongated , pointy prongs. I am thinking of having a stone set in it, if it would be worth it. Thanks very much, in advance! Dawn B.

In order to determine the value of your ring you would have to have it checked/verified for precious metals. Weight and metal market price as well as condition would determine the value. Regardless, since it is an heirloom you might consider having a stone replacement especially if it is gold. If it is costume, you could proably find a stone replacement online at one of the jewelry supply houses - you would need a picture and millimeter measurement of the stone for setting. You could then set it yourself.
Hope this helps, good luck and enjoy your ring.
