QuestionQUESTION: My grandmother gave me a dark purple Tanzanite ring with what looks to either be Cubic Zirconia or diamond chips on either side of it. It is set deep within the (silver?) band so i am guessing its real. But I cannot find the manufacturer anywhere online, can you help me figure it out? the number is 25c925.
ANSWER: Hi Heather,
Let's look at the stones first. Was the ring identified as "Tanzanite"? Did she get a receipt that said Tanzanite? Tanzanite is usually set in gold and not with cubic zirconia. The fact that the ring is silver (925) also indicates it may not be Tanzanite. If there is just 25c925 stamped and no makers mark (manufacturers stamp) is another indication it may not be Tanzanite or diamond. Also makes it impossible to know who the manufacturer was. Tanzanite is usually not dark purple, It can be but that is not normal, it is usally a dark blue and may have a touch of violet in it. Dark puple is found in Amethyst. Ask her where she got it and then go there and ask the seller these questions, that would be helpfull. Thanks

QUESTION: My gran has passed away, unfortunately. However my mother has told me the code IS the stamp. I also stated that the stones beside the tanzanite could also be diamond chips. Is it possible that it is real? The stone color in thepicture i have attached is close to the color of the ring's stone. But more purply. My ipod will not allow me to upload pictures so please follow the web address!

AnswerHi Again Heather,
If that is the code for the manufacturer then I've never seen it and could not even guess at it. The only way I could be sure if it is diamonde or tanxanite is to actually hold it in my hands and test it. Otherwise your guess is as good as mine. It could be tanzanite but like I said it is not likely in a silver mounting. It's not even a picture of the actual stone so how can I even guess? Sorry,
Peter
