Identifying Your Vintage Gold Navy Sweetheart Ring - Age & Value

I would like to get whatever information you can provide about an old family ring I have, especially its approximate age. It is a plain band about 1/8" wide.  There is no mark about how many karats but it looks very much like yellow gold. It is engraved on the inside "Remember me when I'm at sea."

I would appreciate anything you can tell me about it.

Hello Nancy and thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like your have a Navy sweetheart ring. These have been popular since the late 1800's.  You should have it appraised for gold content and perhaps have it insured. Here is a site below that may interest you.
