Identifying Vintage MGM 14k Gold & Silver-Toned Pearl Necklace
Question
stamp on clasp of pear
Hi I am inquiring about my gorgeous pearl necklace (not sure if costume or real), that I bought at an estate sale years ago. It is stamped on the underside of the clasp with the initials MGM inside a crown and is marked 14k..the clasp is a white precious metal..the pearls are silvery blue with gold and pink overtones. I have searched on the internet for any information on the stamp but to no avail...I have enclosed a pic ...do you have any information on what maker would be MGM..and if this peice would be of any value..
AnswerHello Angela and thank you for your inquiry. The only reference I can find to MGM is a jewelry company in Los Angeles, CA that was active in the 1950's. I have found no recent information or active website for them. You should take your necklace to a professional for valuation and information on the pearls. Any value would have to be determined by the quality and type of pearls. Check with your local antique shop or museum for a reference to a professional who can do this for you. Since they are marked 14K I would assume they are quality pearls and should be valued. Hope this helps and enjoy your necklace !
