Question
ANTIQUE BEN HUR PENDAN
Hi!
I found this really strange piece of jewelry, that I am pretty posititive is an antique...it's a heavy pendant depicting Ben Hur driving a chariot. It is oval, about2.5-3 inches wide, maybe 2 inches high, with a banner across the top that reads BEN HUR, with a two horse drawn chariot and I guess Ben Hur driving.
It's an unknown silver metal (to me anyway), that looks like it had been coated with gold at one time (most has worn away it seems). There are no markings on it whatsoever. I'm attatching an image, although not all that good a one so you can perhaps tell me about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Sincerely,
Sandy Tomeo
AnswerHi Sandy
What an interesting piece! But it is almost impossible to assess it from your photograph. I need to see a very clear closeup of the entire medallion (about 500 x 500 pixels but low resolution), the same for the banner, the same for the back (regardless of markings or none), and the same of the chain and clasp.
You can sent them direct to me at info at collectablesnet dot com if you prefer. I will research this item for you and tell you everything I can find out for you. Please weigh it, and include the weight in your email. Do you own a precious metals testing kit ? You may have a friendly local jeweler who will test the metal for you, if not.
Looking forward to finding out more for you, thank you for your enquiry.
Kind regards
