Valuation & Selling Your 18K Gold & Diamond Jade Pendant | Expert Advice
QuestionHi i bought a jade pendant in 2006 when i was in thailand on the certificate of gaurantee the gold content is put as 18k international yellow gold and it has 4 little diamonds set like a little flower at the top with the jade set underneath i was trying to figure out the weight it says J 1.04 cts. D 0.05 cts.
I am a student and want to sell it for some extra cash i took it to the local jewellers and he said he would only give me twenty pounds i thought this was rubbish i know its used but its mint condition i asked him how much he would sell it for and he replyed with in the shop seventy five pounds so he is just taking all the profit!!!! if i was to sell it on ebay how much should i ask for ??? and what does the weights stand for found the cts. confusing what does that stand for????! thank you!
AnswerHi Sally,
It seems the piece of jade weighs 1.04 carats and the diamonds weigh 0.05 carats. One carat is one fifth of a gram. The price of jade is basically based on the color of the jade, the weight and the abscence of flaws. With out seeing the piece I cannot give an accurate value. I would take the value the jeweler quoted you. If he can sell it for 75 pounds you should be able to get approximately 40 pounds. It would take time and patience but that would be a fair price.
