Gold Pendant Identification: Genie Bottle & Diamond Design
QuestionI am trying to identify a gold pendant. It is shaped like a genie bottle (like Jeanie's), from which multiple strands of gold chain are suspended. At the ends of the gold chains are little gold balls. the bottle is suspended from a chain that is looped through a diamond shaped gold pendant. The diamond shaped pendant is very ornate, as is the gold "genie" bottle. Both sections of pendant are yellow gold and the diamond-shaped upper portion also has an ornate plate of rose gold molded over it. Item is 3 1/2 inches overall not including the bale, which is also very ornate. All pieces are part of the same pendant. Item is quite heavy. Any ideas? Or can you suggest a web site with photos of antique gold pendants of this style? Any leads would be appreciated. Thank you, in advance, for any assistance you can provide.
AnswerHello Suzanne and thank you for your inquiry. It is difficult to give much information without a hands-on examination or photo or an item. Your pendant sounds lovely and if it had a hallmark or designer/manufacturer name it might be easier to get information. Pendants have always been popular as ornamentation as well as identification, religious symbols and carriers of poison or fragrance. If the pendant is gold - 14k, then you might consider having an estate jewelry appraiser look at it for identification as well as insurance purposes. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.
