Identifying Antique Guild Pendant: Is It Real?
Questionmy sister left me a pendant/slide which may or may not be real. it only has a marking of the word "guild" on it. In the slide part, it has what appears to be small diamonds, channel set in a vertical line down the middle. From that dangles a silver-colored diamond(?) in a bezel setting. I can't find any other marks, but need to know any more info if possible. Of course I treasure it but this would give me directions on where to keep it and when to wear it perhaps.
Thank you so much.
AnswerHello Vickie and thank you for your inquiry. Your pendant sounds lovely. However, it is very difficult for me to give much information without other markings i.e. gold, karat, 925. or a good photograph. I would suggest that you take it to an estate jewelry appraiser or gemologist for metal and stone testing. If you can get a good picture of it, there are online appraisal services that will work from a good photograph for under $25.00. One site is "What's It Worth To You". Just do a search for their website. I have not used them personally but have had good referrals. Their charge is around $10.00. Since this is an heirloom I'm sure you would like more details. Hope this helps and enjoy your pendant.
