Question
Peruzzi Braclet
I recently purchased a bracelet which has the name "Peruzzi"on the clasp. It is rather plain looking, not the look I've seen of much of the Peruzzi collection. I would describe it as a bracelet made of 13 solid rectangular links. It is a shiny silver color (which made me think of palladium). It has the number 750 stamped and also a number which looks like 1241. Each solid link has a design. The designs alternate. One looks like a very small "helm" or ships wheel like design. On the alternate link is a small gold round piece with a line stamped in the middle. These round pieces look like a high quality gold. The exterior of the bracelet is very shiny and the inside is more of a satin. It is an impressive piece. Very clean. I can't see where the designer Peruzzi ever designed any pieces that I've seen that look like this.
Thank you!
Anna
AnswerHi Anna
Back finally, and had chance to take a good look at your bracelet. It is very pretty indeed.
It looks as though it has a nautical theme, with the possibly etched ships wheel decoration in the centre of some links? But I cant make out the other motif - could it be that the motif is inlaid into the silver metal ?
But what is either side of the clasp, stamped into the metal? Is it one side the 750 you mentioned ? But what is the other side, do you have a high magnification loupe to look with?
I tried enlarging it on photoshop but still could not make it out.
Did you check the metals site 950-1000.com and find anything ? I always forget the name of it, but it is a brilliant site for all metal marks.
Could you let me see some more images please? Both the front, the clasp (both sides) and the back of the entire thing? It may give more clues.
Can you also please advise of provenance? How did you come by it? This may give some clues too.
Meanwhile I will continue to see what I can find out for you. Please feel free to contact me directly on judy@collectablesnet.com
Kind regards
Erica
Another bit more info - According to Deanna Farneti Cera in her book "Amazing Gems" the Perruzi Jewel Shop was a firm founded in Boston by Gino Perruzi in the early 1930s. In 1945, though it kept it's name, the business was sold to Aldo Fioravanti who managed it until it went out of business in 1981. The Florence company named Peruzzi has its roots back in the 1500's and is usually signed 'Florence'.
