Navigating Age Gap Relationships: A Friendship Blossoms into Love

Question
I am 33 and have been a friend of a man who is 73 years old.  I had no idea that something with such a large age difference could turn romantic.

We have been seeing each other as nothing other then platonic friends for 3 years, then as friends I moved into his house as a tenant.  Now I have developed feeling for him, and he has told me he is in love with me.  I love him, he is a better fit then many of the other men I have dated closer to my age.  If it were not for the age difference, we would be married.

Is there any hope that his can work, or is it just crazy to consider it?

I know that it is inevitable that I will be widowed while still quite young, and will be also a care taker for him as he becomes older.  I have been thinking of these things.

Answer
I've seen things like this work out and you seem to understand a few things. The only damage I can really see, and not knowing your goals, is the time wasted. Somewhere down the road 5 or 10 years you'll be back in the same boat, looking for someone again, and being that much older. If you want and have any kids they'll be without a dad fairly soon. If he has a lot of money some of these things won't be as much of an issue, but other prior arrangements and will type issues might. In the end you have to think about what makes you the happiest.
