QuestionI am using a Zero Water filter. It takes out all total dissolved solids down to zero registered on a meter. My other filtered water registers at least >130. Since this totally takes out all mobile charged ions including minerals, salts, and metals, will drinking this 'pure'water leech calcium from my bones. I am 68 and already on Actonel.
AnswerMarie,
Unless your only oral intake is nothing but pure water from your filter system then it is impossible for that to leach out anything. You diet will consist of minerals in the food you eat, so rest assured an adequate diet high in Calcium containing foods (Broccoli, and other cruciferous foods) as well as dairy will give you the necessary minerals. Besides Calcium, Magnesium, Boron, Vitamins D and K are critically important to bone health as are your balanced hormone levels. There is more to bone health than just Calcium.
For more on a great supplement visit Vita Sanus at www.vitasanus.com and check out the Osteo Support formula for a reference on what you should be taking. Actonel and other bisphosphate drugs are important but that are not all that there is on the subject. Also there are issues with bone matrix which bisphosphates don't support. Other drugs (PPIs) have been implicated in bone fracture and mineral loss.
