Navigating Infidelity and Reconciliation: A Difficult Marital Journey

Question
My husband and I have been married for 2yrs 2mths and have been together 11 yrs total.Well first we separate after 2 mths of marriage due to infidelity. My husband admitted to sleeping with another woman and was verbally abusive. I then left and stayed gone for 13mths. During this time we both committed adultery. I repented and then asked my husband to come back. He said he also wanted to make our marriage work but, a couple of mths later I found out he was still involved with the woman he had a affair with. Then he supposedly stopped but continue with his affairs. He even became abusive physically and verbally when confronted and said that wasn't going to stop. I still waited it out then he final agreed to go through counseling with our pastor but that didn't do any good because he lied and tried to turn the tables on me.

last but not least because he doesn't work and said he wasn't going to work for the man. Due to all his behavior both of his vehicles are down . After purchasing a new car I gave him my other vehicle which he total one of his drunken nights out. but everything is my fault. Then he says that jealous of his kid because after his son stole a gold necklace and $80 dollars from my purse I said if you not going to punish him and make him apologize then he's not welcome to  come over he's 16 yrs old and knows right from wrong/ I have gotten the papers together but sometimes feels sorry or guilty for wanting to file eventhough he's not working nor have he tried to get a job in the  past 9mths of our being back to together.

Answer
Hi Temika,

Sometimes you just have to throw in the towel. He doesn't want to work, has been abusive to you, unfaithful, and isn't interested in changing after counseling. Do you see any red flags here? I sure do...

Divorce is sometimes necessary when one party doesn't want to work on the marriage and do what it takes to make things right. Personally, I couldn't stay with a man like this...

Pray about this Temika to be sure...the Lord will lead you in the way He wants you to go... Just listen to the still, small voice inside you...
