Understanding Breakthrough Bleeding After Starting Birth Control

Hey there,

I had taken a certain kind of birth control (Avian)for about a year, then I stopped for about three months. Recently I have started the package again.

I was about a week into the pill pack when I got my period, but it is not an actual period, just little bits now and then. Its like I can have it for an hour then it stops. Should I go to a doctor asap?

What you're having is called breakthrough bleeding, and it's common in the first month or 2 of birth control pills.  It's especially common if you didn't start during a period.  In any case, you don't need to see your doctor.  It will take care of itself with time, probably when you start your next pack of pills.  The pill is still protecting you from pregnancy.
