Heavy Bleeding & Clots After Stopping Birth Control: Causes & What to Do

 I am a 30 year old woman, mother of two children. I have not been using birth control pills for over 3 years due to headaches and weight gain issues associated with them. For about the last 3 months, my menstrual cycle has changed, and on the second day I bleed quite heavily ( soak through a tampon and pad within 2-3 hours). Usuaully the third day is a regular flow, however, my concern is that I am having a lot of clots pass. Some seem quite large to me, but I am not sure what would be considered normal...The size of clots ranges from quarter size to sometimes almost as large as a golfball. Should I see the doctor or is this normal?

some people will miss an ovulation and it will upset the period, maybe delay it and then heavy bleeding.  If it is simply bleeding, no pain, then you can watch to make sure it resolves over 3 days.  If there is pain or if it persists, then you need to see the doctor.
