Understanding Menstrual Cycle Length: Is 5.5-6 Weeks Normal?
QuestionHello/Salam,
Thank you for volunteering,
I'm not sure if you're willing to answer this but I would please like to ask if a 5.5-6 week cycle is normal?
is there anything to be concerned about?
Thank you
Kristina
AnswerDear Kristina
The normal length of a menstrual cycle varies between 21-35 days. A 6 weeks cycle is definitely longer than usual but cases should be considered on individual basis. Age is an important consideration. Such lengthy cycles can be normal in the few years after puberty or before menopause. Also, is this lengthy cycle a new occurence or it is the routine for a particular woman?? if it is a new occurence in a women in her 20s-30s, this may require some investigations as it may indicate some ovulatory dysfunction.
I hope that these are the info you needed.
Good Luck
