Laparoscopy vs. Anesthesia for Pelvic Exams: A Patient's Concerns

I am a 30 year old female that 15 years ago was sexually abused so, I can't handle going through a Pelvic Exam/Pap Smear because I can't stand the feeling of being touched down there.  My doctor said that he might be able to do a pelvic in the Operating Room under general anthesia I was wondering what you think of that vs. having a Exploratory Laparoscopy to explore my pelvic organs.

well for your health,it would be best to have the exam,either way. its very important to have this done.

you feel that if you get an exam,you will feel like its happening all over again. i believe that instead of that feeling inside,to be strong and fight this fear you have.

its all for health reasons nothing else,and you should keep telling yourself that.
