Irregular Periods After Birth Control: What to Do?

Question
Hi I'm 24 with one child and my last normal period was about 4 months ago. I was on the depo shot and during that time I had no period. After that I would recieve my period every 2 - 3 weeks. I started having sex again and at my first mistake I took the ecp pill and was immediately told to start on Ortho Try Cyclen. ( i had some bad side effects on the depo) My problem is I'm on the 3 day of my placebo's and have yet to have my period. I had sex while on ortho try cyclen. Am i going to get my period possibly? I know I should just take a pregnancy test, but I wanted to know if thing like this were a normalcy?
Help!

Answer
DepoProvera has the annoying complication of either causing a complete cesation of the period or causing irregular bleeding for many months after stopping the shots or causing unpredictable bleeding for many months after stopping the shot. If you started OrthoTriCyclen, just continue it. You should get your period sometime during the placebo week. It may be by the end of the week. Even if you do not get your period, start the new pack the next Sunday. If you do not get your period in seven days, take a pregnancy test. If it is negative, continue the pills. Don't worry.
