C-Section & D&C Risks: Understanding Potential Complications

Question
Let me tell you a little history on me and my previous births:

I had a C-section in July of 2002 due to my baby being Frank Breech. I got pregnant in late July of 2003. I wanted to try a VBAC. I found a doctor who would accept and encourge me to have one. All was going just fine. I was 41 weeks pregnant and still no baby, so he thought we should try some pitocin and induce my labor. He came to break my water and found a foot. My baby had turned breech (footling), of course he didn't think it was wise to do a VBAC at that time. So we went ahead and did a C-section. During the C-section with an epidural I had severe chest pains and was having difficulty breathing. They massaged my uterus after they had closed me up. Off we went to my room. The epidural wore off immediatly! I felt all the pain plus the pitocin they were giving me was giving me contraction on top of that. They gave me about 6 shots of morphene and some oxycotin, still I was in a terrible amount of pain. The nusre ran out of the room and came back with a huge needle(I still don't know what it was). The pain finally started to subside. No one my whole stay came in to massage my uterus after the first time after the surgery. I was up most of the time out of my bed taking care of my baby and my two year old I had to bring with me. I told several nurses and doctors that I wasn't bleeding vaginally. They didn't seem concerned and one nurse commented that it was "a good thing!". I thought immediatly something wasn't right. With my first C-section I bled a lot, and this was day 4 and no blood. When I got home I spotted very lightly. Then in July I started to clot and had a clot the size of a golf ball or bigger and heaver bleeding(hot bright red blood poured out of me a few times, like I was urinating). Then I started to run a low grade fever. I called my doctor on call and they said not to come in and to wait until the next day. I did and they did an ultrasound and wanted to send me home. I insisted I see a doctor. The nurse practitioner said she would see me and I told her my symptoms. She asked another doctor there what to do and that day they sent me in for a D&C. The papers said I would bleed for 2 weeks. A week later when I went to see the nurse practitioner she told me I could bleed for another 3 weeks. I accidently ran in to her 2 weeks later and told her I was still bleeding and it was yellow in color(fluid like), she said that was ok, and I could bleed another 3 weeks! I had stopped bleeding and continued on like normally. I would have pain in my cervix when I would orgasm, but felt like that would go away with time. I thought I was haivng my period, but I don't think you could call it one. I bled really hard, almost black for one day and right before it stopped it was bright red and had a strong viniger like oder. A few days later I began to spot. Then it stopped. Me and my husband had had sex several times when I stopped bleeding and had no complications(except when I orgasmed). This last Saturday morning, me and my husband had (gentle) intercourse. Two hours later I was cramping. I thought I had to go to the bathroom. I went and the cramping got worse and worse, until all I could do was cry. This went on for 2 hours. So I called the doctors office. The lady was on call and was supposed to call me back. 30 minutes later she finally calls and said I shouldn't come in unless I have a fever or pain. I told her I had been having a lot of pain. She told me to go to the ER. We spent 11 hours in the ER. They did a pap, took blood, and a urine sample. My uterus has been tender ever since the D&C and the doctor there thought maybe my apendix was inflamed. They did a CT scan, it came back normal. The pap was normal(no infections), same with blood and urine. The doctor in the ER called the doctor on call at my OB office and asked what to do. She told him to give me antibiotics and some pain pills and to follow up later that week. I still don't know why they gave me antiobiotics, there were no infections. I called to make an appointment and no one can see me this week but the nurse practicioner.

My questions are:
Shouldn't they of suspected something was wrong after there was no bleeding for 4 days?
Aren't they supposed to check for pieces that may be missing from the placenta?
Am I overracting? Or Am I not getting the care I deserve?
From my symptoms what do you think is happening to me?
Could a person possibly be this sore and spotting THIS long? And if so, how long is normal?
Thank you for reading this and for any future help you may give me :)

Answer
Everything appears to have been done correctly. There is no problem just because you have less bleeding than usual. If you were bleeding or spotting and it did not stop for awhile after the cesarean section, the proper thing to do was, indeed, a D&C. The D&C should have removed any pieces or remnants of the placenta. YOu may have some hormonal imbalance, but all appears to be fine. If the spotting continues you probably should be controlled with birth control pills. I cannot tell, from your symptoms, why you are having the pain.
