Anesthesia During Pregnancy: A Patient's Experience with Cystoscopy

Question
age: 32   children:2
last period 25.aug.2004

i have been experiencing ongoing bladder infections for the last few months and i visited a urologist about two weeks ago to treat the problem. he decided a cystoscopy was necessary. for the procedure i had to have a general anesthetic.  procedure duration was about 1.25 hours.  diagnosis was fungal infection inside the bladder. he prescibed antibiotic 'ceroxim' and anti-fungal 'sporanox'.  i took these drugs and the problem appears to be correcting itself.  however, three days after the cystoscopy i found out i was pregnant after doing a urine test for pregnancy, as requested by my gynaecologist.

my question is: could the baby's health be in any way endangered by the anesthetic or by the subsequent drugs?

Answer
If you have a normal 28 day cycle and the first day of your last period was August 25, then you would have ovulated on September 7. I doubt that the anesthetic agents cause any harm to an embryo. You would not be more than a few days pregnant at the time of the cystoscopy. In any event, both medications are safe for use during pregnancy. Don'tworry.
