Post-Chemotherapy Port Complications: Redness, Swelling & Skin Changes - Seeking Advice
QuestionI had my last chemo on 8.30.07 and by the morning of 8.31.07 my left breast (port side) was red tender and swollen. When I left the office of my oncologist he said
it was nothing to worry about I called my surgeon and was seen in his office on 8.31.07 scheduled to have the port removed on 9.5 (earliest date after holiday) I am still having pain around the port area and I am worried , because
my breast is now peeling and looks as if I have been burnt.
Any suggestions ? I did change oncologist and will see the new oncologist in 2 weeks.
AnswerWithout being able to check it myself this is a hard question to answer. I think you should let your surgeon check it again since you can not see your new oncologist until 2 more weeks have passed. I think it was a good idea to change! Your skin probably would peel after such a trauma but again let your surgeon check it and follow his advice. Good luck!
